At Tidal Physiotherapy, your physiotherapist is trained in the Neurofunctional Approach*, a unique method of patient care.

Assessment and treatment techniques consider the multidimensional nature of pain and the influences of the neurological, musculoskeletal and metabolic systems on movement patterns, injury development and athletic performance.

In your sessions, your Neurofunctional Practitioner will take you through a functional movement screen, looking at how your body moves as a whole and at the area of injury, ensure you have an understanding of your injury, and will then provide treatment techniques to help you effectively manage your injury, minimize risk of future injury and get you back to moving freely and with ease.

Treatment techniques include:

  • Soft Tissue Mobilization

  • Electro-Acupuncture

  • Movement and Exercise

At Tidal Physiotherapy, we offer the Neurofunctional approach to Physiotherapy. Principal Physio, Joelle Karam, completed the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program and Neurofunctional Sports Performance Practitioner Program and instructed in the programs prior to moving to Australia and opening Tidal Physiotherapy.

*Neurofunctional Approach is a methodology taught by Dr. Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco at the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program and the Neurofunctional Sports Performance Practitioner and Specialist Programs in Canada

**micro-conditioning is a soft tissue technique created by Dr. Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco and is taught in his course "Neurofunctional Sports Performance Practitioner and Specialist Programs" at McMaster University, Canada.
